Housing panel postponed to spring
The commission is planning a public panel on housing, likely November 7 or 14, as part of its housing and resources work.
Quarterly compliance reporting requirement
The transit tax district will require quarterly project reports before releasing funds. Chapel Hill and Carrboro members say they already submit detailed documentation and never agreed to this format, and want that disagreement on the record.

12-lot subdivision proposed near Mebane off Lebanon Road
A 17-acre conventional subdivision with 12 lots, private wells and septic systems, and constructed wetlands for stormwater got a unanimous concept plan approval. The by-right nature of the project means the board can't attach conditions, only confirm it meets county rules.

Soccer nonprofits have until September 18 to bid on part of Millhouse Road Park. Fairview Youth in Action wants full-sized soccer fields there, which may be possible after landfill mitigation — the state will review the mitigation plan in October.

Rural Industrial Activity Node policy questions
Board members pressed staff on why this key intersection was designated for industry back in 1981, when nothing industrial has ever been built there and residents actually want retail like a grocery store. The new comprehensive plan under drafting may consolidate these activity nodes.

Due process for absent appellants on consent agenda
The board pulled a parcel off its consent agenda because the owner couldn't attend and hear the county's case. It's a procedural point with real stakes — nobody should have their tax value decided in a bundle they never saw.
Opportunity Zone Nomination
The county, Chapel Hill, and Carrboro have each nominated sites for a new Opportunity Zone designation, which could attract investment to those areas.
